We are able to refund your examination fee for medical reasons only. For any refunds Bank Charges will apply.
If this is the case, you must provide a medical certificate (from a public/private hospital or a medical practitioner from the private sector), your timetable and a completed Exam Refund Application Form (see downloads section below) to support your request.
The request and supporting documents must be submitted to the British Council within two weeks of the date of the written exams and you will receive a refund of 75% of the fee.
All approved requests for refund are processed after the examination results.
Fees cannot be transferred to a later exam period or from one level of examination to another.
Refunds are only given if you miss the entire exam (all papers).
- Candidates can request to change the date or time of the speaking test. Contact the British Council to apply for a change of orals. There is no fee. Such changes will only be possible until the end of the current examination speaking window, on condition that the speaking test is conducted more than once within the same examination session.
- The date and the venue (examination centre) of the written and listening parts of the examination cannot be changed.
