We understand that getting your results is important to you. We know you want them quickly, but it is equally important that we give you the score that correctly reflects your performance.

You can expect your IELTS result to be available 13 calendar days after your test.

IELTS results online and by post

You’ll be able to preview your results online, 13 days after the main test day.

Your IELTS results (also known as your Test Report Form) will be posted to you 13 days after the date of the main test day.

Turkish Cypriots need to collect their results from our office.

You will not be able to obtain your results over the phone, by email or by fax.

Test Report Forms (TRF)

You will receive one copy of your personal Test Report Form. Unfortunately, replacements cannot be issued if you lose it.

Verified photocopies of the Test Report Form can be issued for a period of two years after you have taken the test by applying to the centre where you took the test. Verified copies can only be issued once the original Test Report Form is presented

Test Report Forms for institutions

We can also arrange for additional original copies (up to a maximum of five) to be posted to receiving institutions (e.g. universities, immigration officers, etc.). If you would like us to do this, please include the relevant addresses when you register. Please use IELTS Results Request Form (found below), if you need to send it to more than 5 institutions there will be a fee of €26.

When completing electronically the request form please make sure that you give the following information:
1. Full postal address of the receiving institution, with name of the recipient if known.
2. Your UCAS reference no (applicable for 1st degree only)
3. Your level of study e.g. Undergraduate/Postgraduate
4. Your name, candidate no. and test date.

Please note we cannot accept telephone requests for the dispatch of results.

Institutions need original copies of your Test Report Form. Photocopies of your Test Report Form will not be accepted.

Institutions may be able to view candidates’ scores through the IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) Verification Service. To do this they will need your Test Report Form number which can be found in the bottom right corner of your Test Report Form.

The validity period of your Test Report Form

Institutions will not usually accept a Test Report Form that is more than two years old. After this time we are not able to provide you with a test report form. Instead, you will need to provide them with evidence that you have maintained or improved your English since taking the test.

Be informed that we cannot issue another original certificate after two years results have been released.

Understand your IELTS scores

IELTS provides results for all levels of English: there is no such thing as a pass or fail. You will be given a score from zero to nine for each part of the test – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking

YOUR SCORES EXPLAINED

What is the ‘feedback on results’ service?

When your test results are released, you will be able to login to Results Online to preview your provisional results and see a table with an explanation of your scores and advice for improvement.

The scores explained will provide information on your performance along with general advice on how you can improve these skills.

How long will the website display this service?

Your scores explained will be available to you for 28 days after the release of your result or the same time as the availability of your online results. After this time, it will no longer be available.

Can I send this score download to my Receiving Organisation instead of a Test Report Form?

No, this is for your support and viewing only. All receiving organisations will require a copy of your Test Report Form, or, if accepting electronic results, the confirmed score from your test centre.

Can I share this feedback with my university, preparatory school or language teacher?

Yes, you can. However, you need to be aware that this only provides general guidance on how to improve your scores.

Can I request my test centre to print a copy of ‘‘Your scores explained’’ and send it with my Test Report Form?

Currently, test centres do not include a copy of this when they print the Test Report Form. However, you can access and print the feedback and advice from Results Online.

How to query your score

It is unusual for there to be a mistake in the marking. However, if you believe a mistake has occurred you can apply to our Enquiry on Results Service to have your test re-marked. This must be done within six weeks of the test date. You can choose which sections of the test you want to have re-marked.

There is a fee for the Enquiry on Results service, which will be refunded should your overall score change as a result of the re-marking.  Your result will normally be available in 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark. If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact your test centre.

Please contact contact.ielts@cy.britishcouncil.org for further information about how the service works.

Can I re-take the test?

You can take the test as many times as you wish. However, please note that to significantly improve your score it is necessary to undertake further study. IELTS research indicates that scores are unlikely to improve without further English language tuition.
